SAVANNAH WAY LIMITED

The Savannah Way is Australia’s ultimate adventure drive, linking Cairns, Katherine and Broome across the north of the continent.  Established in 2000 the route has multi-level government support and strong consumer awareness.

Savannah Way Limited was formed in 2007 to increase the promotion of the drive route and bring social and economic benefit to local communities.  It is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee, independent of government and other tourism organisations.   SWL works to assist small businesses and communities along the themed drive through promoting sustainable tourism development and creating a network of individuals and businesses reliant on the Savannah Way.  It is regarded as one of the longest industry clusters around.

Savannah Way Limited undertakes:

• Tourism promotion through domestic and international websites, road signage, brochure and merchandise distribution and contact with agents and media
• Linking stakeholders with markets and each other
• Coordinating the Savannah Symposium and other events
• Assisting regional development through projects, research, training and consultation.

A range of membership levels are open to individuals, businesses, government agencies and organisations.  Members are committed to the company objectives which include:

• Promote the sustainable use of the Savannah Way and the SW Brand to generate repeat visitation
• Contribute to the economic and social wellbeing of the communities along the route
• Bring cohesion to the tourism industry across northern Australia
• Facilitate the development and delivery of quality visitor experiences along the Savannah Way
• Provide appropriate information services to travellers along the route.

The significance of Savannah Way Limited to regional development across the north should not be underestimated.  The potential of themed tourism drives to create and spread wealth through remote regions has been recognised nationally and internationally.  They provide a level of coordination and economies of scale which would otherwise be lacking.
